How We Handle Your Information
1. About This Policy
- 1.1 Who we are. Blackline Energy (ABN 40 674 601 177) provides operations and maintenance, decommissioning and rehabilitation, engineering, regulatory and compliance, and remote monitoring services to the Australian energy sector. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Blackline Energy. “You” means anyone who visits our website, contacts us, or deals with us as a client, supplier, contractor or job applicant.
- 1.2 What this policy covers. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how we keep it secure, and how you can access or correct it. It applies to our website at blacklineenergy.com.au and to the way we handle personal information across our business.
- 1.3 Changes to this policy. We review this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page, and the effective date above shows when it was last updated. Where we make a significant change we will make that clear on the website. If you keep using our website after a change, you accept the updated policy.
2. Information We Collect
- 2.1 Information you give us directly. This includes your name, job title, company, email address, phone number, postal address, and the details of any enquiry, quote request, tender or project you discuss with us. If you apply for a role with us it also includes your resume, work history, qualifications, licences and tickets, and referee details.
- 2.2 Information we collect through our work with you. When we deliver services on a site or asset we may collect contact details for your personnel, site access and induction records, safety and compliance records, and correspondence about the project. Where our SiteLook™ platform or remote monitoring services are used, we may also handle operational and asset data supplied by you.
- 2.3 Information collected automatically on our website. Our website and its hosting provider record standard technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. We use cookies and similar tools, including website analytics, to see how the site is used and to improve it. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, though some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
- 2.4 Sensitive information, and what happens if you do not provide it. We only collect what we reasonably need. We do not seek sensitive information unless it is directly relevant to our work, for example health or medical details required for site safety, and we will ask for your consent where the law requires it. If you choose not to give us the information we ask for, we may not be able to answer your enquiry, provide a quote, or deliver our services.
3. How We Use and Share Your Information
- 3.1 How we use your information. We use personal information to respond to enquiries, prepare quotes and proposals, deliver and manage our services, meet our safety and regulatory obligations, invoice and keep proper accounts, assess job applications, and send updates about our work where you have asked to receive them. You can opt out of any marketing email at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us.
- 3.2 Who we share it with. We do not sell your personal information. We only share it where it is needed for the purposes above, where you have agreed to it, or where the law requires it. The parties we may share information with are:
- 3.2.1 Our employees, contractors and subcontractors, where they need the information to carry out work for you.
- 3.2.2 Clients, joint venture partners and site operators, where sharing is needed to arrange site access, inductions or project delivery.
- 3.2.3 Service providers that support our business, such as IT, hosting, cloud storage, email, accounting and insurance providers.
- 3.2.4 Regulators, government agencies, auditors, insurers and our professional advisers, where we are required or permitted by law to share it.
3.3 Overseas storage and how long we keep information. Some of our service providers, including cloud hosting, email and software platforms, store data on servers located outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out in this policy, or for as long as Australian law requires us to keep it, and we securely destroy or de-identify it after that.
4. Security, Access and Contact
- 4.1 Keeping your information secure. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Those steps include access controls, strong passwords and multi-factor authentication, encrypted storage and transfer, and staff training. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us over the internet.
- 4.2 Accessing and correcting your information. You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete. We will respond within a reasonable time. There is usually no charge, though we may need to confirm your identity first. If we cannot give you what you have asked for, we will explain why in writing.
- 4.3 Questions and complaints. If you have a question about this policy, or you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us at hello@blacklineenergy.com.au or on 0401 299 755. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
